Amy's blog

This is a blog about me, Amy,my husband, Eric, and my son's Brendon and Gabriel. I really just want a space to write down all of the little things that you forget in everyday life. I have started this blog to have a place to remember all of Brendon's (and now Gabriel's) little antics and the funny things that he says and does.

Crack Heads

I am considering the thought that it is possible the people at Brendon's summer school are smoking something. His "summer camp" costs me $165 a week, and then I have to either pay for lunch or bring it to school. I also had to pay $150 for swimming lessons (he has learned nothing),and $100 for him to be able to go bowling. They go on field trips all of the time. The field trips are a real strain on my budget. The most current fieldtrip, Carowinds. For approx. $37.99, my son can go on a fieldtrip this Friday, and I won't even get to be there. I told Brendon that I don't have that kind of money to just cough up, and he quickly said that he had that much saved up. To me it is a double edge sword: If I let him pay for the field trip, I will feel enourmous guilt, and if I don't let him go I feel enourmous guilt. I really feel that a childcare centers should try to take field trips that could be affordable for most people. Lucky for me, and Brendon, my mom said that she would gladly pay for him to go. I think that it is just sad they cannot consider anyone except the wealthy, even at a freaking childcare center! I have also done the calculations, and this summer program is costing me more money per month than Brendon's private school! I just cannot wait until he starts back to school in August.

You give me so much to look forward to!

I hope things get better soon -- maybe you can get Joe to cough up some money for his kid!

I swear its such highway robbery with summer camps, schools, and daycares. Its ridiculous that they don't space the field trips out - I have yet to meet a mother who doesn't have a budget and they obviously don't get that; besides that, it sounds like you are paying for Carowinds and swim instructors to take care of your child rather than the people that you are paying simply doing their job. Hang in there - only a few more weeks of summer left.

I've said repeatedly that they are over charging these parents for day care!! These people wouldn't have their kids in daycare if they weren't working. I'm sure if these mom's could stay home with their children they would. It's horrible what they charge. I really wish somebody would offer, good affordable daycare/summer camp whatever that's not in the ghetto!!!
