Amy's blog

This is a blog about me, Amy,my husband, Eric, and my son's Brendon and Gabriel. I really just want a space to write down all of the little things that you forget in everyday life. I have started this blog to have a place to remember all of Brendon's (and now Gabriel's) little antics and the funny things that he says and does.

Say What???

I can't believe anybody would write or publish this article, much less Forbes magazine. Clearly this man has no respect for working women.
http://www.forbes.com/home/2006/08/23/Marriage-Careers-Divorce_cx_mn_land.html

It seriously just makes me ill to see ignorant people writing articles for what many see as a reputable journal!!!

What are women like myself supposed to do? I guess I am supposed to just sit idly by and wait for a man to come along to support lil ol me, otherwise I may not be marraige material.

Yes I know it seems this has nothing to do with Brendon, but it does. I don't want my son to EVER see women in this light. I want him to grow up to treat us with respect, and equality.

This actually pretty funny to me. This is closely tied to one of Mary's recent posts and I get a little hot and bothered about women's rights stuff. The breakdown of the American Family does not lie in the fact that women are career-oriented, it lies in the fact that a man can't keep up. Men have to learn to multitask (chores, yard, kids, work, etc), which is something women have been expected over the years to be very adept at.

That man's point is best taken lightly, as he says himself to be careful not to confuse causation and correlation in statistics.

Well, back to being a career-girl for me (read: must be productive at work).

What a load of bull. I rolled my eyes about fifty times while I was reading that article. People place too much significance on statistics. You can find a statistic to prove anything these days. Ridiculous.

All I have to say about him is "MALE CHAUVINIST PIG"!!!! He's much too ignorant to be a journalist. He should keep his opinions to himself. What is this 1950!!!! For heavens sake, this is the 21st century. Most women have not choice. They have to work, but even if they do have a choice, it's exactly that a CHOICE!!! PIG!!!!! Now I feel better!!!
